2. Data Used for AI Processing

The following data categories may be used in AI processing:

  • Profile Data: Professional skills, experience, education, certifications
  • Usage Data: Features used, search queries, navigation patterns
  • Application Data: Job applications, assessment responses, interview records
  • Communication Data: Messages and interactions (processed in aggregate/anonymized form for model improvement)
  • Portfolio Data: Work samples, proof-of-work records, code contributions
  • Public Content: Publicly available professional information from connected platforms

We do NOT use the following for AI training: Private messages (in their identifiable form), government identification documents, payment card details, or passwords.

3. AI Model Training & Improvement

3.1 How We Train AI Models

Your interactions with AI features may be used to improve our AI models. This includes:

  • Training and fine-tuning matching algorithms for better talent-opportunity matching
  • Improving the accuracy of AI-generated content (resumes, summaries, assessments)
  • Enhancing fraud detection and security models
  • Optimizing recommendation and ranking algorithms

3.2 Data Anonymization

When data is used for AI model training, we employ anonymization and aggregation techniques to minimize the risk of re-identification. Individual-level data is not used to train models unless necessary and permitted by applicable law.

3.3 Third-Party AI Providers

Some AI features are powered by third-party AI service providers. Data shared with these providers is governed by our data processing agreements, which restrict providers from using your data for their own purposes. We require that third-party AI providers do not train their general models on your personal data.

4. Automated Decision-Making & Profiling

4.1 Automated Processing

Remote-Works uses automated processing for:

  • Profile ranking and search results: Algorithmic ordering of profiles based on relevance, verification status, and other factors
  • Job matching and recommendations: Automated suggestions based on skills, preferences, and market data
  • Assessment scoring: Automated evaluation of assessment responses in the Rating Lab
  • Trust tier calculation: Automated determination of verification badges and trust levels
  • Fraud detection: Automated flagging of suspicious activity patterns

4.2 No Solely Automated Decisions with Legal Effect

Remote-Works does not make hiring, employment, or other legally significant decisions solely through automated processing. All hiring decisions are made by human users (employers). Automated tools assist with information organization and scoring but are not the sole basis for decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

4.3 Human Review

Where automated processing may significantly affect your access to Platform features (such as account suspension for suspected fraud), you have the right to request human review of the automated decision. Contact support@remote-works.io to request a review.

5. Your AI Privacy Rights & Opt-Outs

5.1 Opt-Out of AI Model Training

You may opt out of having your data used for AI model training and improvement. To opt out:

  • Adjust your AI data settings in your account preferences (when available)
  • Contact privacy@remote-works.io with the subject line "AI Training Opt-Out"

Note: Opting out of AI training does not affect your use of AI features — it only prevents your data from being used to improve our models. Some AI features may be less personalized after opting out.

5.2 Opt-Out of AI-Powered Matching

You may opt out of AI-powered matching and recommendation features. This means your profile will not be algorithmically surfaced to employers, but you can still manually apply to opportunities.

5.3 GDPR Right to Object to Automated Processing

Under GDPR Article 22, you have the right not to be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing, including profiling, that produce legal effects or significantly affect you. Where automated processing is based on consent or contract, you have the right to obtain human intervention, express your point of view, and contest the decision.

5.4 Transparency

We clearly indicate when AI-generated content is being used (such as AI-generated summaries, chatbot responses, or automated assessments). We are committed to transparency about how AI affects your experience on the Platform.
